AltLayer to Offer Faster Finality on Soneium in Partnership with Astar and EigenLayer
AltLayer, a popular decentralized protocol for launch and enhancement of rollups, has announced its latest collaboration with Astar Network, a prominent blockchain platform, and EigenLayer, Ethereum’s security protocol for off-chain validation. The partnership aims to unveil fast finality on Soneium, an Optimism (OP) Stack-built L2 blockchain of Sony Block Solutions Labs. The AltLayer and Astar networks disclosed this joint feature on their official X accounts.
AltLayer, Astar Network, and EigenLayer Partner to Enable Faster Finality on Soneium
AltLayer’s collaboration with Astar Network and EigenLayer promises to significantly decrease finality times to lower than 10 seconds on Soneium. Soneium presently utilizes the fraud-proof mechanism of Ethereum, which demands a delay of nearly fifteen minutes for L1 settlement. Hence, the latest development intends to provide a considerable rapidity in finality.
Although secure, the above-mentioned lag has been posing a huge bottleneck in the case of applications requiring reliable and rapid cross-chain operations. Use cases dealing with gaming, social platforms, and decentralized finance (DeFi) are specifically sensitive to this type of delay. This can hinder real-time interactions as well as heighten consumer friction.
Hence, to deal with the respective challenge, Astar Network has reportedly integrated with Modular Asynchronous Consensus Hybir technology of AltLayer. Its integration with the cutting-edge restaking infrastructure of EigenLayer, offers Fast Finality Layer, enabling Soneium to validate transfers in real-time.
The MACH solution of AltLayer provides a package of latest performance enhancements. They take into account real-time validation, decreased dependence on centrally-controlled sequences, and a success track across other prominent rollups. The respective capabilities enhance speed, security, and decentralization, expanding the possibilities for the L2 networks. Additionally, to offer improved security, the dual-token model will be utilized, including both $ASTR (the native token of Astart Network) and Ethereum ($ETH). As a result of this, validators will secure the network with the use of both these tokens. This will open exclusive staking opportunities.
Driving $ASTR’s Accessibility and Liquidity Apart from Making Soneium High-Performance Rollup
As per AltLayer , the partnership takes place just after the recent listing of $ASTR on Uniswap. Hence, this increases the accessibility and liquidity of $ASTR within the DeFi ecosystem of Ethereum. The fast finality upgrade for Soneium positions it as a high-performance rollup for real-world applications.
