Securitize, Mantle Introduce Institutional Crypto Fund With Yield-Enhancing Strategies
Securitize, a platform for tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs), and Mantle, a prominent player in on-chain finance, have announced the launch of the Mantle Index Four (MI4) fund, a new institutional-grade digital asset product, the firms announced on Thursday in a statement .
The fund aims to provide sophisticated investors with secure, regulated, and potentially yield-enhanced exposure to a diversified portfolio of top cryptocurrencies.
Mantle Treasury has anchored the MI4 Fund with a $400 million investment, underscoring the fund's role as a foundational element for on-chain asset management and a step towards the next generation of institutional digital asset offerings.
According to the announcement, the MI4 Fund offers exposure to a basket of major digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and USD stablecoins/synthetic dollars, weighted according to market capitalization and risk-adjusted methodologies. The fund employs a quarterly rebalancing strategy and integrates staking mechanisms to potentially boost returns. These strategies include Mantle's mETH, Bybit's bbSOL, and Ethena's USDe, aiming to leverage DeFi-native yields while maintaining compliance and robust investor protections.
Timothy Chen, global head of strategy at Mantle, envisions MI4 as a benchmark product for institutional crypto investment. "MI4 and associated future products will become the de facto SPX or S&P 500 of crypto – our basket of the major crypto currencies aims to capture all capital on chain looking for smart beta with income and is a set-it-and-forget-it solution for institutions without the complexities of direct custody," Chen stated.
"Through Securitize’s platform, investors will gain access to available real-time liquidity, the ability to use fund shares as on-chain collateral, as well as seamless interoperability with DeFi. That level of flexibility, combined with the attractive yields and institutional-grade structure, creates a product that mirrors the best of traditional finance while delivering the full potential of tokenized securities," Carlos Domingo, co-founder and CEO of Securitize, said.
The launch of MI4 signifies a growing trend of institutional interest in accessing the crypto market through regulated and professionally managed vehicles. By combining a diversified portfolio of leading cryptocurrencies with yield-enhancing DeFi strategies within a tokenized fund structure, Securitize and Mantle aim to lower the barrier to entry for institutional investors seeking exposure to the digital asset class while addressing concerns around custody and operational complexity.
