Tether's Bitcoin reserve address shows unusual activity: 4 BTC transferred out, suggesting a possible pause in Q2 equities purchases.
According to BlockBeats, on July 11, EmberCN reported that Tether's reserve address, which allocates 15% of its quarterly profits to Bitcoin, made a test transfer of 4 BTC, worth approximately $250,000, to Binance about 5 hours ago.
EmberCN stated that the address had previously transferred 204.3 BTC to Bitfinex a month ago, which was worth approximately $14.36 million at the time, when the price of Bitcoin was around $70,000. It is uncertain whether the assets have been sold.
Furthermore, Tether appears to have not yet completed the on-chain withdrawal of Bitcoin acquired in the second quarter of 2026. Following past practice, Tether typically transfers BTC purchased during the quarter to its reserve address on the last day of each quarter. However, more than ten days have passed since the end of the second quarter, and no new Bitcoin has been observed being transferred to this reserve address on-chain, raising concerns in the market about whether Tether is adjusting its Bitcoin accumulation pace.
Empery Digital sold nearly half of its Bitcoin reserves, raising $87.1 million to invest in AI data centers.
According to BlockBeats, on July 11, Empery Digital, a Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin treasury company, sold a total of 1,400 BTC since May 7, with an average selling price of approximately $62,200, for a total of approximately $87.1 million, nearly half of its previous Bitcoin reserves.
The announcement indicates that $10 million of the proceeds was used to repay debt on July 7th, with the remaining funds to be used for the previously announced acquisition of AI data center-related real estate, legal fees for shareholder litigation, and daily operating expenses. The company previously announced a $65 million investment to acquire a 25% stake in an entity planning to build an AI data center project in the Midwestern United States.
As of July 10, Empire Digital still held 1,514 BTC, worth approximately $96.5 million at current prices, along with approximately $73.9 million in cash and $45 million in outstanding debt.
The report states that an increasing number of publicly traded companies holding Bitcoin reserves are beginning to use BTC as a source of liquidity rather than just as a long-term holding asset, selling a portion of their reserves to meet traditional financing needs such as debt repayment, capital expenditure, and business operations.

Only the 21Shares Solana ETF (TSOL) saw a net inflow yesterday, with a single-day net inflow of $150,500, while its historical total net outflow has reached $102 million.
