MoneyGram Launches Stablecoin-Backed Card With Visa Spending and Cash Access

MoneyGram has launched the MoneyGram Card, a stablecoin-backed card that lets customers hold a stable-dollar balance, access cash and spend anywhere Visa is accepted, the company announced on September 10 . The card is designed to serve eligible customers worldwide, online, in stores and across borders.

The move extends the 85-year-old remittance giant’s push into stablecoin payments, bringing everyday spending into the MoneyGram app experience that customers already use and trust.

A stable-dollar balance with Visa acceptance

The card gives customers a stable-dollar balance they can hold and use for everyday spending, with the option to add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet to tap-to-pay, check out faster and shop online. Within the MoneyGram app, customers can sign up for the card in a few taps and manage their balance and spending in one place.

To access cash, customers can transfer funds from their MoneyGram balance and pick up local currency at a nearby MoneyGram location, so the journey extends from receiving money to managing and spending it, the company said.

“We’re giving customers more freedom and control to manage their money, all in one place,” said Anthony Soohoo, Chairman and CEO of MoneyGram, in the announcement. “The MoneyGram Card builds on the power of our global payments network.”

Built on Rain, Crossmint and Stellar

The card is developed in partnership with Rain, which provides enterprise-grade infrastructure for stablecoin-powered payments, and combines Rain’s card infrastructure with Crossmint’s wallet capabilities and the Stellar network. MoneyGram said the stack delivers fast, simple and immediate access to funds.

MoneyGram has been expanding stablecoin utility for months, including USDC-to-cash withdrawals across Southeast Asia , as it positions the card as a natural extension of its global payments network.

Debuting in Colombia with a global rollout planned

The MoneyGram Card is available today in Colombia, with plans to expand to more global markets in the coming months, according to the company. MoneyGram also plans to introduce a physical card option in late 2026 for ATM withdrawals and in-person purchases where digital cards are less widely accepted.

MoneyGram serves more than 60 million active customers across over 200 countries and territories through nearly 500,000 retail locations and a digital network spanning billions of endpoints, a footprint the company says positions the card to scale globally.
