Circle Signs Agreement to Acquire Cross-Border Payments Firm Tazapay

usdc main

Circle Internet Group signed a definitive agreement to acquire Singapore-based cross-border payments company Tazapay on Sept. 8. The proposed transaction would add Tazapay’s bank connections and local payout rails to Circle’s stablecoin payment infrastructure, but the deal has not closed.

Circle said the acquisition is expected to close in 2027, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The company did not disclose a purchase price or a more specific completion date in its official announcement .

Tazapay brings payout rails across 100 markets

Tazapay is a Singapore-headquartered business-to-business payments infrastructure provider serving payment companies and financial institutions. It has worked as a design partner for Circle Payments Network since 2025, giving the two companies an existing operational relationship before the acquisition agreement.

According to figures cited by Circle, Tazapay handles more than $25 billion in annualized payment volume, works with over 60 banking and fintech partners, and supports local payouts in more than 100 markets. Circle also said approximately 60% of Tazapay’s transaction volume already involves stablecoins. Those operating figures were presented by the buyer and were not independently verified in the announcement.

Circle targets wider 24/7 USDC payment reach

Circle plans to use Tazapay’s network to expand where payments can begin and end, particularly across Asia-Pacific and emerging markets. Its stated objective is near-instant, round-the-clock money movement, with USDC providing the settlement layer for more cross-border transactions.

The transaction extends a broader effort to connect stablecoin settlement with local currency access. BlockchainReporter previously covered Circle Mint’s expansion to eight local currency ramps , which focused on business deposits and withdrawals. Tazapay would add local payout infrastructure and institutional customers rather than simply another supported currency route.

MAS approval remains a closing condition

The acquisition announcement is an agreement, not a completed transfer of ownership. Circle expects a 2027 close only if the required conditions are met, with the Monetary Authority of Singapore specifically named among the regulators whose approval is needed. Other required approvals were not identified.

Circle said Tazapay customers should see no disruption to service, application programming interfaces, pricing or support during the process. That is a company commitment about the transition rather than a realized result. Until the transaction closes, Tazapay remains the existing provider and the planned combination remains subject to regulatory review.
