PANews 5月13日消息，据金十引援路透社报道，两位了解情况的西方官员和两位伊朗官员表示，沙特此前对伊朗发动了多次未公开的袭击，以报复中东战争期间在其境内发生的袭击。沙特发动的这些袭击此前未见报道，这表明沙特在抵御其主要地区对手方面变得愈发大胆。两位西方官员称，这些由沙特空军发动的袭击据评估是在3月下旬进行的。此前据华尔街日报周一报道，阿联酋也对伊朗实施了军事打击。沙特和阿联酋的行动共同揭示了一场真实形态大多仍被隐藏的冲突——在这场冲突中，遭受伊朗打击的海湾国家正开始反击。伊朗和西方官员表示，沙特让伊朗知晓了这些袭击，随后进行了密集的外交接触，且沙特威胁要采取进一步报复行动，最终促使两国达成降级共识。
