Visa: AI-powered agent payments are rapidly developing; x402 has already processed approximately $15 million in on-chain transactions.
According to BlockBeats, on July 16, Visa released a joint research report with Artemis titled "Agentic Payments from the Ground Up," which analyzes the development of AI Agents payments and on-chain data.
The report shows that AI-assisted payments are mainly divided into two categories: one is "large-amount commercial payments" where agents represent users to complete tasks such as flight bookings and subscription management; the other is small-amount payments between machines, such as API calls and the purchase of computing resources, which are usually less than $1.
x402, a machine payment protocol incubated by Coinbase and Cloudflare and later managed by the Linux Foundation, has processed approximately $15 million in adjusted transaction volume and accumulated approximately 109.6 million transactions since its launch in May 2025. Its main activity is concentrated on the Base, Solana and Polygon networks.
Another machine payment protocol, Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), was built by Stripe and Tempo and supported by Visa contributions. Since its launch in March 2026, it has completed approximately $25,000 in settlements and processed approximately 115,000 transactions.
Visa stated that the development of AI-powered agent payments has driven demand for low-cost, high-frequency machine-native payment infrastructure, with stablecoins and blockchain networks potentially becoming crucial components of micropayment scenarios. The report suggests that the future payment system may not be solely replaced by bank cards or stablecoins, but rather through a fusion of both in different scenarios.
Cascade CLS vaults were attacked, resulting in the loss of $1.3 million in user funds.
According to MAX monitoring, on July 16th, Cascade CLS vaults appeared to have suffered a security vulnerability, resulting in the loss of approximately $1.3 million in user funds. The platform has suspended all trading and withdrawals and has invited SEAL 911 and other third-party security teams to investigate and handle the situation. Cascade is a New York-based, US-based 24/7 multi-asset perpetual contract platform that supports deposits via Arbitrum USDC or bank accounts and is currently in an invitation-only private testing phase.
BitMart's contract stock section will launch several perpetual contracts, including CLSKUSDT and WULFUSDT.
According to an official announcement, BitMart will launch perpetual contracts for CLSKUSDT, WULFUSDT, FASTUSDT, KORUUSDT, MUUUSDT, and SOXSUSDT on July 16, 2026 at 15:00 (UTC+8), supporting leverage up to 25x!
CFTC blocks Kalshi from canceling Michigan user's sports event contract position
Odaily Planet Daily reports that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on Tuesday suspended an emergency rule by Kalshi, preventing it from forcibly liquidating some open sports event contracts held by Michigan residents and requiring Kalshi to fulfill the transactions through normal procedures. Kalshi filed the emergency rule on July 12, after the Ingham County Circuit Court in Michigan verbally ordered it to close some positions and, in a letter dated July 6, clarified that the transactions must be voided, cancelled, and refunded. The dispute began in March when Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and the Michigan Gaming Control Commission sued Kalshi, alleging that its sports event contracts constituted unlicensed internet sports betting. Kalshi argued that the products were federally regulated derivatives under the Commodity Exchange Act. The CFTC stated that allowing Kalshi's emergency rule to take effect could undermine confidence that completed derivative transactions will be fulfilled and cause significant market disruption. CFTC Chairman Michael Selig stated that state governments cannot force designated contract markets to violate their obligations.
After accumulating losses of $4.89 million, a trader heavily invested in long BTC positions and currently holds $5.43 million in Bitcoin long positions.
According to BlockBeats, on July 16th, OnchainLens monitoring revealed that a trader, after accumulating losses of $4.89 million, has again heavily invested in long positions, currently holding 84 BTC long positions, worth approximately $5.43 million, with a leverage of 40x. The account also holds long positions in HYPE worth approximately $290,000 and PUMP worth approximately $148,000.
In addition, the trader also placed a limit buy order for 6.56 BTC, worth approximately $424,000, at a price of $64,600.
