Stargate 是一个原生资产跨链桥，目前专注于稳定币的跨链，具有统一的流动性和快速的交易最终性，也是首个基于 LayerZero 协议的项目。
目前资产跨链桥普遍面临着一个不可能三角形难题，即跨链桥无法同时满足以下三个要求：
1.即时的最终性保证：当交易在目标链上成功提交时，目标链上资金的保证到账。
2.统一的流动性：在多链之间共享访问单个流动性池。
3.原生资产：很多跨链桥是以铸造销毁合成代币的形式进行资产跨链，这时候得到的合成资产并非用户想要的原生资产，还需要进一步去兑换。
当前很多跨链桥实现即时最终性的方式，就是通过「锁定原生资产+铸造合成资产 | 销毁合成资产 + 赎回原生资产」这种方式实现的，这时候它们也就牺牲了原生资产这一维度。
当然，跨链桥也可以用具有统一流动性的原生资产池来设计，如所有链上的都有 USDT 单边池，所有链都能共享访问各自的流动性，在资金效率上，会比当前的代币配对池（目前的跨链流动性都是以配对池的形式组合，如 Hop 的 hToken、synapse 的 nTOKEN）高出几个数量级，但是这也会存在一些潜在问题，如 A 链向 C 链发起一定量的 USDT 跨链请求，但是其他链也同时向 C 链发起了跨链请求并比 A 链更早完成交易，导致 C 链的 USDT 单边池被抽干或者无法满足 A 链的跨链需求，这就给用户造成了十分糟糕的用户体验，即无法保证发起跨链请求后，能够在目标链接收到资产（无法满足即时最终性保证），同时这也是潜在的攻击漏洞。
而 Stargate 就是攻破了这种三角形难题的跨链桥，在拥有统一流动性以及原生资产池这两个维度后，Stargate 引入了一个叫 Delta (&Delta;) 的算法来提供即时最终性保证，本质上类似于一套激励奖惩机制，激励套利者去补充流动性不足的资金池。
