Project Introduction
Moonbeam is a Polkadot-based smart contract blockchain that provides compatible functionality with development tools and networks familiar to Ethereum developers. Moonbeam is a developer-friendly blockchain that implements full EVM compatibility, Web3 API compatibility, and a bridge that connects Moonbeam to the existing Ethereum network. Developers can easily deploy existing Solidity smart contracts and DApp frontend to Moonbeam with a few tweaks based on their development efforts.
Project Vision
Moonbeam is committed to providing compatibility with existing Ethereum developer toolchains and networks.
Market Demand
For a variety of reasons, many developers and teams have shifted their focus from platforms focused on a single blockchain to having multi-chain solutions. Some projects have scalability concerns, where the ethereum base main network becomes too expensive to deploy and use its applications on. Other projects are concerned about the direction of the Ethereum 1.0 chain as ethereum's center of gravity moves to Ethereum 2.0 (Serenity) and doesn't want to wait for these new features to be implemented. Some projects also realize that they need a more direct community agent to manage upgrades and potential fixes that are necessary in the long run. Projects with these concerns don't want to give up all the hard work they put into developing applications on Ethereum, but need a way to solve their problems, which is why Moonbeam offers decentralized application developers a new way to get scalable, governable applications.
Solution
With Moonbeam, developers can easily port the code of their existing applications to deploy them on the cheaper, directly-governable Moonbeam platform. This means smart contracts written in Solidity are directly compatible with Moonbeam's EVM. Developers can also benefit from the existing Ethereum tool ecosystem, such as Truffle and Web3 RPC. Developers can even deploy Dapps on Moonbeam using the successful Metamask browser extension.
Project Implementation Mechanism
Moonbeam is blockchain middleware for developers on Boca, dedicated to providing development tools and networks compatible with existing Ethereum. Moonbeam provides a full EVM compliant environment with Web3 compliant apis to build Bridges with Ethereum. As a parallel chain on the Boca network, Moonbeam benefits from the shared security of the Boca relay chain and connectivity to other Boca related chains. But since Boca's relay chain itself does not have smart contracts, Moonbeam is able to bridge this gap by leveraging Moonbeam's smart contracts and compatibility with ethereum's development toolset, bridge-based integration to quickly build DApps for use with users and assets on remote chains. Moonbeam is committed to providing the simplest development environment and the richest developer integration to attract more mature Ethereum projects to the Boca ecosystem. Moonbeam also serves as the bridge between Ethereum and Boca, enabling the free transfer and flow of assets on the Ethereum and Boca chain.
Token Usage Scenarios
1. Support Gas metering for smart contract execution; 2. Ensure protocol security and motivate verification nodes; 3. Promote on-chain governance, including proposing referendums, electing council members, voting, etc.; 4. Pay for online transactions.

Project Highlights
Moonbeam project has Ethereum platform compatibility with Solidity development language. Moonbeam is compatible with Web3 as well as Solidity, ethereum's development tool ecosystem, and many integrations and dependencies including The Graph, Ethereum-like account structures, signature schemes, and more. 3. The Moonbeam team focuses on building the infrastructure of the layout platform.
Incentive Mechanism
In the Boca Parallel Chain slot auction, Moonbeam offered 10% of the initial supply as the total prize, 100 million Glimmer. 30% are unlocked when the parallel chain comes online and 70% are allocated linearly in blocks over the 96-week lease.
Competitors
At present, there are several smart contract parallel chain projects in Boca Ecology, with fierce competition. A simple horizontal comparison of Moonbeam with four events on the same track. Moonbeam uses Frontier and is compatible with Ethereum Layer 1 as far as possible in terms of technical solutions, with the advantage of minimizing the migration cost of DApp. However, it also has disadvantages. As it chooses to inherit ethereum completely, which is equivalent to rebuilding Ethereum in the Boca ecosystem, Moonbeam can only continue to use the old scheme of Ethereum on some points where Substrate has already been optimized, which may make the smart contracts running on it continue to be limited by ethereum thinking. Such as too large nodes and unreasonable Gas mechanism. Moonbeam only supports EVM, not WASM, which is more advantageous. Officials say they will continue to support eWASM as Ethereum grows. Acala is also compatible with Ethereum EVM, but to avoid inheriting all of Ethereum's shortcomings, instead of Using Frontier, Acala uses its own Ethereum compatibility solution Bodhi. This solution is not compatible with Ethereum RPC, but instead makes a JavaScrpt SDK that emulates Web3 Provider, and can wrap boca extensions like MetaMask, This allows existing Ethereum DApps to interact with Acala EVM using the Boka extension once deployed on Acala. Bodhi retains the advantages of Substrate while being compatible with Ethereum, implementing some functions that aren't available on Ethereum. Such as having a customizable economy for Acala, allowing users to pay transaction fees with any supported tokens, local cross-chain functionality, on-chain governance (no more locked funds), full upgradability (no contract migration required), etc. However, these improvements also mean that there are more code changes required to migrate ethereum DApps to Acala than Moonbeam. Clover is also EVM compatible, and only a few code changes are required to migrate a DApp to Clover. In addition, Clover has created a built-in SPV chain simulation technology model to achieve trust-free bidirectional anchoring between Turing-complete and non-Turing-complete blockchains. Clover's main innovation is in Gas, For example, support for payment of Gas charges using traded assets during on-chain interactions (not limited to ETH like Ethereum), lower Gas charges for frequent DApp users, allocate a percentage of Gas charges to on-chain DApp developers, etc. 4. Plasm also uses Frontier to be compatible with Ethereum, and unlike Moonbeam, it supports both EVM and Wasm virtual machines. Plasm can be run using EVM to run existing Solidity contracts on Ethereum as well as ink! Wasm contract written (not supported by Moonbeam). In addition, there is a developer incentive mechanism that allocates 50% of the Staking in the crab network to the developer of a DApp (or smart contract). In addition, Substance has Layer 2 solutions including OVM and ZK Rollups, which are not available from other competing products. 5. Patract's previous projects are all ethereum compatible to varying degrees, using mature development environments and tools that exist within the Ethereum ecosystem. Patract has cut ties with Ethereum and focused on WASM contracts, building a full suite of open source development tools and a development, test, and release environment in the Boca Ecosystem that allows developers to use this infrastructure to develop WASM contracts. Instead of issuing tokens, Patract aims to become a system-level parallel chain for Boka and Kusama, using DOT/KSM directly as tokens for the Patract chain.
Points
Moonbeam, as the middleware of Boca and Ethereum, Bridges projects between boca and Ethereum ecosystems, helping more projects on Ethereum or those based on EVM smart contracts to easily enter boca ecosystem, greatly reducing the workload and cost of developers. Moonbeam will be one of the most important players in the future. Moonbeam is already mature and will likely make new progress after the launch of the main network this quarter.
Market Commentary
Moonbeam not only integrates EVM virtual machines, but is also a highly specialized Ethereum Layer1.5. Moonbeam extends the basic Ethereum feature set with additional features such as on-chain governance, collateral, and cross-chain integration.
KOL
Moonbeam is currently in the pre-launch phase and is scheduled to launch in Q3 of this year, but Moonbeam's ecosystem is already very rich, integrating with several mature track programs such as DeFi, NFT, Predictor, wallet, etc., making Moonbeam a leader in Boca ecology.
Values
Moonbeam's use of Frontier for full Ethereum compatibility is equivalent to recreating Ethereum in the Boca ecosystem, making it the easiest cross-chain deployment solution for existing Ethereum DApps. In the short term, this is Moonbeam's biggest advantage, as it is able to attract a large number of Ethereum DApps to the platform. As a smart contract platform, the number and quality of apps represent a flourishing ecosystem, which is crucial. But in the long term, Moonbeam will be limited by ethereum's growth. In terms of the economic model, 80% of Moonbeam's transaction fees will go to the Treasury, and the community will vote on the use of the funds. The Treasury will have a huge cash flow if the main network goes live and has a wide range of applications, and there is a lot of room to think about how to use this money (e.g., destruction, dividends, etc.). In terms of investment institutions, Moonbeam has a strong investment lineup, including many well-known institutions including Binance and Coinbase, and its tokens have the possibility of online first-tier exchanges.
