CEO/founder Lucas received his Ph.D. in particle physics from Southern Methodist University in 2005. He was involved in theoretical and experimental research on the Higgs particle at CERN, the European organization for Nuclear Research. Dr. Lucas Lu was co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Light In the Box, a New York Stock Exchange-listed company. Before that, he was the first general manager of Alibaba's Taobao action platform and general manager of another Alibaba business unit. Lucas founded 5Miles in 2014.

Lead Scientist and Foundation director Michael Yuan holds a PhD in astrophysics from the University of Texas at Austin and has written five books on software development, sponsored by Middot Prentice USA; Published by Hall, Addison-Wesley and O 'Reilly. He actively contributes code to large open source projects such as The Firefox browser, Fedora, and JBoss. He is an expert in enterprise and mobile software and has been the director of several U.S. government-backed research projects.

Michael Yuan

The core developer, Alex Lau, a director of the foundation, goes by the screen name AvengerMoJo. He received his degree in Software and Computer Science from the University of North Texas in 1999 and worked for Nortel Networks Limited in Canada before moving to China as SUSE Linux Development Manager in Beijing/Taiwan and cTO of Symbio Mobile. Alex Lau provided long-term consulting services for SUSE's Ceph distributed file system and served as a blockchain consultant for WeBank.

Prior to joining 5Miles, He was Senior Vice President of Product Development for The Holyea Group. The group is China's largest advertising platform and digital marketing agency. With decades of experience in marketing, particularly in digital marketing, he was a principal engineer at DoubleClick, a Google subsidiary. He holds a bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Science and Technology of China and a Master's degree in physics from Rice University.
