According to BlockBeats, on August 26, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi stated that, according to the new understanding reached between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz, routes into the Persian Gulf will pass through Iranian waters, while routes out of the Persian Gulf will pass through Omani and Iranian waters. No warships will be allowed to pass through the strait; only merchant ships will be permitted to pass.

Gharibabadi stated that the understanding between Iran and Oman does not imply an immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The aforementioned passage arrangements are temporary measures, and the two countries will subsequently negotiate a new permanent shipping route within 30 to 60 days. Gharibabadi emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed if Iran's demands and conditions are not met. He stated that the preconditions for reopening the strait include a complete end to all fighting, including on the Lebanese front, the lifting of the blockade, a proper resolution to the Yemen issue, and, in addition, the United States must fully fulfill all its previous commitments. Gharibabadi said that the US claim to have cleared mines from the Strait of Hormuz is a "propaganda lie," and Iran will strike US minesweepers entering the area.
