Meta Platforms has hired the head of Amazon Web Services' computing business, potentially signaling its entry into the cloud services field.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal on July 17, sources familiar with the matter revealed that Meta Platforms (META.O) has hired the head of Amazon Web Services (AWS) computing business and is considering entering the cloud services field.
Meta will hire an Amazon Web Services executive to accelerate its data center and cloud computing expansion.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, a senior executive at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is scheduled to join Meta Platforms (META.O) in the coming weeks, a move that reflects the social media giant's growing ambitions in building data centers and computing resources. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Dave Brown, one of AWS's top executives, will join Meta, bringing nearly 20 years of industry experience and reporting to the head of Meta's infrastructure. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated at the company's annual shareholder meeting in May that building a cloud computing business was "definitely on the table." He said that companies contact Meta "almost weekly" seeking access to its artificial intelligence models or willing to pay a premium for using its idle computing power.
