According to Odaily Planet Daily, Nathan McCauley, co-founder and co-founder of Anchorage Digital, announced the launch of Agentic Banking on the X platform. This initiative aims to provide AI systems with compliant and governable access to funds, encompassing identity authentication, policy control, and settlement capabilities across crypto and traditional financial systems. This allows AI to directly participate in economic activities within a regulated framework. Leveraging its U.S. Federal Chartered Crypto Bank accreditation, the system provides a compliant "execution layer," ensuring transactions are subject to access control, real-time risk management, and auditability. McCauley added that the financial system is entering an "era of autonomy," with AI evolving from a decision-making tool to an independent entity capable of executing tasks, including workflows, negotiations, and representing institutions. The current financial system is not yet prepared for "non-human participants," lacking AI-oriented identity systems, policy execution mechanisms, and compliant fund access methods, forcing institutions to weigh automation against risk. Anchorage has previously partnered with Google Cloud, which will build an "intelligent layer" to support discovery, collaboration, and decision-making among AI agents. Anchorage will be responsible for fund execution and settlement, promoting the cloud migration of institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure, and integrating capabilities such as custody, key management, transaction governance, and staking to help financial institutions embed stablecoins and digital assets into their products.
