According to BlockBeats, on August 20th, Onchain Lens monitored a whale that withdrew 42,460 HYPE tokens from Coinbase Prime, worth approximately $2.93 million. In the past two weeks, this whale has withdrawn a total of 98,490 HYPE tokens from Coinbase Prime, worth approximately $6.11 million.
According to a Bloomberg report on August 20th, JPMorgan Chase stated that SK Hynix may allocate at least $130 billion in additional shareholder returns by 2027. This follows the company's announcement of a 40 trillion won (approximately $29 billion) share buyback program and its plan to increase the proportion of cumulative free cash flow allocated to shareholder returns from "no more than 50%" to "at least 50%" between 2025 and 2027.
In a report, JPMorgan analyst Jay Kwon stated that the key to SK Hynix's 40 trillion won share buyback plan lies in the company raising its shareholder return commitment ceiling. Under the new return policy, the company is expected to generate "at least 180 trillion won in additional shareholder returns" by 2027, equivalent to 16% of its current market capitalization, which is expected to provide support for its recent share price decline.
Kwon stated, "We believe the worst is over and expect stock sentiment to gradually improve in the medium term, and we recommend investors increase their holdings of the stock." He added that the buyback program was announced earlier than the market anticipated.
Shares of SK Hynix surged as much as 13% on Thursday on the Korea Exchange after the company announced it would repurchase and cancel up to 24 million shares, the largest share cancellation program in the history of a South Korean listed company. SK Hynix's rise also boosted the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI), with rival Samsung Electronics' shares rising as much as 10%.
The market believes that further increases in shareholder return expectations could drive a rebound in South Korean memory chip stocks. Previously, the memory sector had experienced a recent correction due to market concerns about the sustainability of AI investment and competitive pressure from China. Currently, SK Hynix's stock price is still more than 40% below its all-time high reached in June.
According to BlockBeats, on August 20th, based on HTX market data, Bitcoin rebounded above $69,000, currently trading at $69,711. Strategy's Bitcoin holdings have narrowed their unrealized losses to 7.53%, approximately $4.77 billion. Previously, unrealized losses exceeded $10 billion.
As of August 17, Strategy held 840,447 Bitcoins at a total cost of $63.36 billion, with an average holding price of $75,385.
