This review comes against the backdrop of the rapid expansion of crypto ETFs and the increasing number of applications for prediction market-related ETFs. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins stated that the regulator wants to hear market feedback to ensure that the U.S. ETF market can effectively serve investors while continuing to grow and innovate. Since Atkins took over as SEC chairman in April 2025, the SEC has approved several crypto ETFs other than Bitcoin and Ethereum, including products tracking assets such as SOL and DOGE.
