Nansen CEO: Robinhood issuing its own cryptocurrency would diminish its stock value; L2 strategy focuses on technology.
According to Odaily Planet Daily, Alex Svanevik, CEO of blockchain data analytics firm Nansen, stated in a recent interview that Robinhood is highly unlikely to launch a token, as this could compete with its publicly traded stock, HOOD. Previously, the market speculated that Robinhood might follow the lead of some crypto projects by launching an ecosystem token, but it now appears the company is more likely to use blockchain as an underlying technological tool rather than building a business ecosystem around a token. Svanevik pointed out that Robinhood's current Layer 2 network already operates on the Ethereum ecosystem and has Gas tokens for paying network fees, so there is no need to issue an additional platform token. Robinhood's core purpose in building its blockchain infrastructure is to leverage blockchain technology to enhance product capabilities, not to raise funds or build new economic models through token issuance. $3.4 billion in cryptocurrency was stolen in 2025, with funds typically laundered within 45 days.
According to Odaily Planet Daily, cryptocurrency theft reached $3.4 billion in 2025, with Bybit suffering a $1.5 billion loss, accounting for 44% of the total. In the first half of 2026, 212 related incidents occurred, resulting in losses of approximately $1.1 billion. The Lazarus-related group was involved in about 55% of these incidents, and KelpDAO suffered a $293 million loss in an attack in April. Stolen funds typically undergo a three-stage transfer over approximately 45 days: the first 5 days are spent exchanging funds through DeFi protocols and entering mixing services; then, they are bridged across chains and flow through exchanges with lower KYC requirements; and between 20 and 45 days, they are cashed out in batches through platforms without KYC, instant exchange brokers, and OTC trading networks. While tracing funds across multiple blockchains, mixing services, and jurisdictions is still possible, recovery becomes significantly more difficult. Less than 5% of Bybit's stolen funds were ultimately recovered; Tether and Circle can freeze USDT and USDC addresses, and attackers typically exchange stablecoins for Ethereum or Bitcoin within minutes of the attack.
WSJ: HP and Acer have already used Changxin Memory chips in devices sold outside the US and are seeking to secure more supply for next year.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal on August 9th, BlockBeats reports that Apple is testing memory chips from Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT) across multiple product lines, including iPhones and MacBooks, and has begun preliminary supply negotiations with CXMT, aiming to use these chips in some devices sold in China. Sources familiar with the matter say Apple hopes to gain White House approval for this collaboration. With the AI boom causing memory chip supply shortages and rising costs, Apple is raising product prices globally, and securing a Chinese supply source could help alleviate the shortage.
Current U.S. regulations prohibit companies from transferring technology to Changxin Memory Technologies Co., Ltd., including communicating technical details and product specifications. Therefore, Apple cannot actually order custom chips from the company, but it can purchase standardized products and negotiate prices. Even if it complies with these regulations, Apple may still seek support from the Trump administration due to political influence. Using standardized chips could also force Apple to redesign some of its products.
Changxin Memory's production capacity is already nearing full capacity this year, leaving limited room for new international customers. HP and Acer have already used a small number of Changxin Memory chips in equipment sold outside the US and are seeking to secure more supply next year. The prices of some Changxin Memory products are now comparable to those of Micron, SK Hynix, and Samsung, and some are even higher. The company's second-quarter revenue increased more than eightfold year-on-year, accounting for 7% of the global DRAM market by revenue, and it plans to more than double its current production capacity by 2028.

Many of Changxin Memory's products are priced on par with similar products from Micron, SK Hynix, and Samsung Electronics, and some are even more expensive. US federal regulations prevent Apple from ordering custom chips from Changxin Memory and force it to use off-the-shelf components. Using standard memory chips from Changxin Memory could force Apple to redesign some of its products.
