According to Odaily, the board of directors of Exor, a majority shareholder of Italian football club Juventus, unanimously decided to reject a takeover offer from stablecoin issuer Tether. In a statement, Exor said it "has no intention of selling its Juventus shares to any third party," explicitly including Tether. Previously, Tether offered to acquire Exor's 65.4% stake in Juventus for cash, stating that it planned to invest an additional $1 billion in the club's development if the deal went through. Tether currently holds approximately 10% of Juventus' shares and has repeatedly expressed its desire to play a more active role in the club's governance. Exor emphasized that the Agnelli family, as Juventus's stable controlling shareholder for over a century, will continue to support the club's management in implementing its established strategies. Odaily Planet Daily reports that U.S. Attorneys in Maryland have filed additional charges against cryptocurrency promoter Rodney Burton (online name "Bitcoin Rodney") for allegedly participating in the promotion of the HyperFund (also known as HyperVerse) Ponzi scheme, which is estimated to be worth approximately $1.8 billion. The new indictment accuses him of multiple counts, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, and operating an illegal money transfer business. Prosecutors allege that between 2020 and 2024, Burton and others packaged HyperFund as a legitimate cryptocurrency investment platform, promising investors daily returns of 0.5%–1%, claiming that the returns came from large-scale cryptocurrency mining, but the mining operations did not exist. Starting in 2021, the platform began restricting user withdrawals. The indictment also alleges that Burton used investor funds to purchase luxury apartments, sports cars, and yachts. If convicted on all charges, Burton could face decades in federal prison. He remains in custody, and the trial is scheduled for March of next year.
