Odaily Planet Daily reports that Dunamu, the operator of the South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, responded to rumors of a US IPO, stating that while it has indeed contacted the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), a US IPO is not yet confirmed, and the company has not yet converted its financial statements to US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Dunamu stated that it is currently working with Naver Financial to complete a share swap by December 31st, with the two companies valued at 15 trillion won and 5 trillion won respectively. The swap ratio is approximately 2.54 Naver Financial shares for every 1 share held by the two companies. After the transaction, the two companies plan to establish an IPO committee and proceed with the listing within one year. The market believes Nasdaq may be a potential listing location, mainly because Naver is already listed on the Korean Stock Exchange, and if the two companies were to list in South Korea as subsidiaries, they might face regulatory restrictions on "double listing of parent and subsidiary companies." If Dunamu ultimately goes public in the US, it will likely do so through American Depositary Receipts (ADRs). Its Korean subsidiary and Upbit operations will remain operational, and services such as deposits and withdrawals in Korean Won are not expected to be directly affected. (Etoday)
