CZ: Giggle's second-largest anonymous donor is a previously "publicly known" address.
Odaily Planet Daily reports that CZ posted on the X platform that his previous "public address" was the second largest anonymous donor to Giggle, and thanked everyone who contributed. CZ previously stated that the BNB in the "public address," as well as the "Binancer" tokens purchased with BNB, would be donated to Giggle Academy. He will then cease using this address, making it a burn address to avoid over-interpretation by the community regarding the public address's actions.

According to BlockBeats, on August 23, Binance founder CZ cited a screenshot of the Giggle Academy on-chain donation leaderboard, stating that the second largest "anonymous" donor actually came from the previously "CZ public address," and thanked everyone who contributed to it.
CZ previously stated on Binance Square on the 16th that the BNB in the "public address" and the "Binance Life" tokens purchased with BNB would be donated to Giggle Academy. He then announced that the address would be discontinued and made a burn address to prevent the public address operation from being over-interpreted by the community.
South Korea plans to strengthen regulations on high-yield stock-linked securities in September, as retail investors turn to complex structured products seeking higher returns.
According to a Bloomberg report on August 23, BlockBeats reports that South Korean regulators plan to strengthen oversight of structured products such as equity-linked securities (ELS) starting next month, requiring brokerages to warn investors when products approach the principal loss threshold and to reassess product design and sales when risks rise significantly.
Following the recent historic sell-off in the South Korean stock market, retail investors' risk appetite has not diminished; instead, they are turning to more complex structured products in search of higher returns. Equity-linked securities offering annualized coupon rates of 40% to 50% are once again attracting significant retail funds, with sales in July reaching a more than three-year high. Notes linked to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix saw the most notable growth.
After experiencing a wave of margin calls and forced liquidations in single-stock leveraged ETFs, South Korean retail investors haven't truly left the market; instead, their funds have flowed into structured products that seem to offer fixed, high returns. However, these high-yield ELSs typically come with knock-in clauses, meaning investors could face significant losses if the underlying stock price falls below the agreed-upon price. The previous leveraged ETF crisis already caused heavy losses for young South Korean investors, and the rise of high-yield ELSs may be replicating a similar risk structure.
South Korea plans to strengthen regulation of high-interest ELS (Elastic Compute Service) securities firms starting in September: brokerages will be required to promptly warn investors of potential principal losses.
According to Odaily Planet Daily, South Korean financial regulators plan to strengthen oversight of structured products such as ELS starting next month. Brokerages will be required to issue warnings to investors when products approach the principal loss trigger line (knock-in), and to reassess product design and sales when market conditions significantly increase risk. It is understood that while the South Korean stock market has recently experienced significant volatility, retail investors' enthusiasm for high-risk investments has not cooled significantly. Following tightened regulations on single-stock leveraged ETFs, some investments have shifted to stock-linked securities (ELS) offering high "coupons." Data released by the Korea Financial Investment Association shows that ELS sales in South Korea reached 3.5 trillion won in July, a new high in nearly three years since April 2023, with ELS products based on Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix stocks being the main drivers of growth. Analysts believe that investors' pursuit of high returns reflects optimistic expectations for the AI chip cycle and the future performance of semiconductor leaders. While Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix shares have rebounded recently, they are still more than 22% below their all-time highs reached in June. Some investors believe that increased demand for HBM (high-bandwidth memory) and the two companies' expanded shareholder return programs could mitigate the risk of further declines. (Bloomberg)
