CoinMarketCap Backed Atlas to Replace Binance Oracle After 90-Day Transition

blockchain main

CoinMarketCap’s Atlas, a provider of blockchain oracle infrastructure, has announced it will assume responsibility for oracles previously run by Binance. This switch is a major milestone in BNB’s on-chain data feeds delivery for the major networks within the BNB ecosystem.

? @AtlasOracleX will be gradually assuming oracle services previously operated by @Binance Oracle.

Backed by @CoinMarketCap , Atlas will provide on-chain data infrastructure across BNB Chain, opBNB, and other applicable networks.

The handover process has already started, with a ‘90-day window of migration’ to allow for a seamless handover. In this period, all price feeds and data services used on BNB Chain, opBNB and other supported networks will be gradually transferred to Atlas.

Transition Period and Migration Process

Projects using Binance Oracle have been encouraged to begin preparations to migrate now. The transition period provides developers with the opportunity to work with Atlas to make the necessary technical and operational changes. If a team does not undertake this action in the 90-day period, they may be subject to data delays and/or service outage.

Atlas has been stressing the support for developers throughout this part. A dedicated onboarding channel is to ensure continuity of services in integrating a project. The company’s strategy is to reduce the friction and enhance the data infrastructure as a whole.

Enhanced Flexibility for Developers

The most remarkable change atlas brings is the capability of protocol-level configurability. In contrast to conventional oracle solutions, data is handled and provided in a project-specific fashion with Atlas.

Developers can select from various aggregation techniques such as median, time-weighted average price (TWAP), volume-weighted average price (VWAP), and trimmed mean. There are also customization options such as adjustable times for updates, low acceptable limits, and staleness limits for each trading pair.

Such flexibility allows decentralized applications to have a higher degree of control over their use of each individual element and optimize their use for accuracy, speed, or cost based on the application.

Leveraging CoinMarketCap Data Infrastructure

One of the main benefits of the change is that Atlas has a tight interconnection with the CoinMarketCap’s vast data network. It brings together the price data from over 900 sources, providing greater market visibility and enhanced price discovery.

This network infrastructure is very important to remove anomalies and provide reliable feeds of essential data, particularly for lesser-known or recently listed tokens. Atlas also brings a proprietary “Consensus Score” system to measure the quality of the data, according to its availability, market consensus, and trading activity.

These are designed to improve on-chain data reliability, such as for applications within the DeFi sector , where the importance of accurate price feeds is paramount.

Early Integrations Signal Readiness

And Atlas has already proven itself with a few integrations with popular protocols in the BNB ecosystem. Some of the early adopters include Venus Protocol and Lista DAO.

These integrations show that Atlas is ready to operate and give a working example of other projects planning to migrate. The company is making sure to highlight the real-world deployments, showcasing its reliability as a dependable Binance Oracle replacement.

Leadership Perspective on the Shift

Jin Choo, Atlas’ CEO, emphasized that the shift will be centered on enhancing the developer experience. While infrastructure migrations can present problems, Atlas is designed to ease the transition robustly and with lasting improvements, he observed.

Choo says it’s not just about sustaining current work. Atlas aims to improve them with sources of first-party data and sophisticated aggregation methods to provide a more resilient and scalable data layer.

A New Phase for On-Chain Data Services

The change in Binance Oracle is no ordinary update. That’s a part of a bigger change towards blockchain infrastructure being more trusted and tailored.

The move to Atlas could give developers and protocols in the BNB ecosystem a chance to use data plans and improve performance. For this change to work, people need to switch on time and the method needs to be used.
