YAM is a flexible supply of digital currency that expands or contracts depending on market conditions and is initially priced at 1 USD per YAM. This stabilization mechanism is a key complement to existing elastic supply models such as Ampleforth: a portion of each supply expansion is used to purchase yCRV, a high-yield stablecoin denominated in U.S. dollars, and add it to the Yam repository, which is controlled by the Yam community governance.
