APENFT于2021年3月29日在新加坡正式注册成立，是以全球知名公链以太坊Ethereum及波场TRON底层技术为支持，结合全球最大的分布式数据存储系统 Bittorrent File System (BTFS)，致力于将全球顶级艺术品NFT化与区块链化的专业基金会。其中，NFT作为APENFT基金会官方发行的治理代币，是基于ERC-20/TRC-20协议开发的去中心化数字资产，也是APENFT基金会的权益证明，NFT持有者将拥有投票、分润、参与等权益。NFT全球发行恒定量为999,990,000,000,000枚。
APENFT的主席Steve Z. Liu，浙江大学电气工程学士，哥伦比亚商学院金融工商管理硕士。拥有20余年国际资本市场经验，曾先后任职于富达国际、所罗门美邦、野村国际、蚂蚁金服集团等大型金融机构，曾成功为多家头部中资券商建立并管理海外机构股权业务。
APENFT团队的成员多数为佳士得、苏富比、等传统艺术行业从业者，对艺术品具有长期的从业经验。另外，技术核心力量来自BAT等一线互联网企业，具有区块链与密码学相关经验的专业工程师。无论是团队规模，还是工程师技术，都处在行业领先水平。
基金会自成立以来，已经与知名NFT作家Beeple以及佳士得、苏富比、Nifty Gateway三大NFT拍卖平台达成深度合作，并且依托全球两大公链的基础用户，形成了完备的市场基础。
波场TRON创始人孙宇晨也参与到了该项目当中，甚至将其花费近2亿元人民币拍下的毕加索《戴项链的躺卧裸女》(Femme nue couch&eacute;e au collier)和安迪&middot;沃霍尔《三幅自画像》(Three self portraits)等作品捐赠给了APENFT，用于支持其在&ldquo;区块链+艺术&rdquo;领域的创新探索。
目前，APENFT基金会旗下的藏品包括毕加索名作《戴项链躺卧裸女》、加密艺术家Beeple创作的《Ocean&lsquo;s Front》、《ABUNBANCE》（5幅）及加密艺术家Pak的整套NFT作品《Cube》等，总价值超过2亿元人民币。
