Stocktwits Integrates Thematic to Transform AI-Driven Investment Research

Stocktwits , an investor and trading community with 10 million+ users worldwide, announced the acquisition of AI-based investment research platform Thematic. This initiative aims to elevate the availability of complex market research tools that have historically been available to hedge funds and institutional investors.

The integration will enable Stocktwits to add 17 years of its proprietary investor behavior data to artificial intelligence (AI) abilities offered by Thematic to develop new tools for its user community. The platform offered by Thematic applies real-time contextual analysis of financial, market and company data to make the research process quicker and easier for all levels of analyst, retail investor, and portfolio manager.

Combining these capabilities with Stocktwits extensive data ecosystem, e.g. investor sentiment, behaviors and real-time, social signals, the acquisition will have access to a new level of artificial intelligence (AI) in the investment process.

Stocktwits Offers New Tools and Features for Smarter Market Participation

Under the acquisition, Stocktwits will introduce a variety of AI-enhanced functionalities starting in Q2 2025. These will comprise advanced screeners, smart watchlists, individual trade suggestions, and stream rundowns. Research will be optimized with the application of a proprietary AI-native search module throughout the platform.

The most notable will be the Stocktwits Social Relative Strength Index (SRS), which combines social sentiment data with existing market metrics to determine real-time asset strength. Howard Lindzon , Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stocktwits shared his remarks on this initiative, stating,

The new toolset will also include an institutional-grade index builder and backtesting, which allows users to build and test portfolios without the need for traditional financial infrastructure. This feature is in line with Stocktwits’ mission of democratizing finance tools and delivering better user results regardless of skill.

The incorporation of Thematic will affect every point of the investor journey on Stocktwits. AI will be integrated across the user experience of the platform, spanning a research and discovery engine, through to analysis of said data both during and post-trade.
